Creation Day 2: Atmosphere

Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
Genesis 1:6-8, NKJV

Creation Day 2: Atmosphere

On the second day of creation God separated the water on the earth from the water above the earth (in the atmosphere). He called the firmament Heaven. The earth now was separated from the sky and had an atmosphere.

All of this is difficult for us to imagine. Scientists in our day have their own theory for how the earth began, beginning with a big bang. How much easier would it be to believe in our Creator God who spoke this world into existence? Yet, as in all the spiritual knowledge we gain from the Word of God, it is impossible for us to comprehend it apart from the guidance of the Holy Spirit. What seems simple in the minds of the believer is foolishness to people of the world.

What does the Bible say about our Creator?

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them” ... Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 and 6, NKJV

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
Isaiah 40:28, NKJV

Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
1 Peter 4:19, NKJV

As we walk through these days of creation, we must marvel at the amazing God we serve. When we walk upon this marvelous earth God has created, we are amazed at the intricacies we find. Why was all of this created? It was created for the glory of God and for man's enjoyment.

Today, as we take this walk, let us be amazed at the creation of the sky and atmosphere. As we look on the waters of the earth and as we breathe the water from the sky, may we marvel at how perfectly God created this atmosphere for mankind who would not be created until day 6.

What an amazing God we serve!

God Bless You,
Linda
