Creation's Power

15He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
16He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
17He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
18He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
(Psalm 147:15-18, King James Version)

Creation's Power

Who is a God like unto our God, where creation's power is manifest again and again. What is man in the face of God, for man has no power over God's creation. Yet God just speaks and creation obeys His will!

The Psalmist, in these verses from Psalm 147, marvels at God's amazing hand upon this world He has created. God sends forth His commandment upon the earth, and His the entire earth quickly responds. God sends the show, scatters the hoarfrost, and sends blasts of ice that none can withstand. Just as quickly, at His word the snow and ice melt, the wind blows, and the waters flow.

It seems that we are much more aware of God's hand upon this earth in the springtime. After a hard, cold winter, that just did not seem to want to quit, the refreshing warmth of the spring sunshine is a welcome relief. Then, as the flowers burst forth in their glorious beauty and abundance, and the blossoms break forth upon the trees, we are amazed anew at God's glorious creation, with its exquisite beauty that man simply cannot duplicate.

The tulips are blooming in Pella, and their untold variety of colors, shapes, and sizes cannot escape one's notice. How can one not believe in God when one sees such glorious beauty? Christ remarks about the flowers in His sermon on the mount.
28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (Matthew 6:28-29, King James Version)
As our Lord reminds us, let us not be unduly concerned about what we eat, or what we wear, or what we possess, for our God, who created such wondrous beauty, will certainly take care of us!

I will close this devotion with a few pictures of our glorious tulips and spring blossoms, taken on my walk earlier this morning!

What an amazing God we serve - He certainly displays creation's power!

May God richly bless you,
Linda
