Righteous

1Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Righteous

The Psalmist lays everything on the line when he says, Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. In one succinct statement he has outlined the entire life's goal of the true believer! Not only is the believer blessed by God, but so are his descendants blessed by God. Even his seed shall be mighty on the earth!

While Psalm 112 speaks in generalities, it is often true that the positive impact of righteousness upon a culture can affect an entire generation. Just as one bad apple can ruin the entire barrel of apples, so one righteous person can have a positive affect on his or her peers.

The Psalmist continues, Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. Have we uncovered the secret of wealth and happiness? We have uncovered the secret of peace, joy, and contentment in the Lord, however the Psalmist is not providing a get-rich quick scheme. Rather, the Psalmist is demonstrating that our contentment does not lie in the things we possess; it lies in God. God gives to His children all things necessary for their few days upon this earth, with the promise of mansions in heaven for all His saints.

My Father is rich in houses and lands,
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,
His coffers are full, He has riches untold.

CHORUS:
I'm a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus My Savior,
I'm a child of the King.

A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
They're building a palace for me over there;
Though exiled from home, yet still may I sing:
All glory to God, I'm a child of the King.

What promises do we have in Christ? God grants to His children light in the darkness: He is gracious and full of compassion and righteous. What more could we ask? In Christ we have everything necessary for peace, joy, and happiness as we patiently wait for that time when we will enter the gates of heaven and live with Christ forever!

God Bless You,
Linda
