Worship at His Footstool!

5Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
6Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.
7He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.
8Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.
9Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.

Worship at His Footstool!

What an amazing God we serve! Let us exalt the Lord our God and let us, as the psalmist expressed, worship at His footstool! What a beautiful picture this brings to mind. Can you not see the loving grandfather with his grandchildren gathered around his footstool hanging upon his every word as he relates to them tales of his childhood? Our God loves us so much, and is even more accessible to us than that loving grandfather is to his grandchildren.

The psalmist reminds us of this amazing God and His wondrous works among His people, reminding us of Moses, Aaron, and Samuel who called upon the name of the Lord and were answered. Even though God judged them for their foolish deeds or inventions of their minds, yet He forgave them and lived among them as their God.

Today this same God is our God. Just as He lived and moved among the nation of Israel, even so does He live and move among us. Do we know He is there? Do we give Him lip service on Sundays at church and then live the rest of our lives as though He does not even exist or care about us? Do we live as though He is close by our side every step we take? Do we live as though He even hears all of the thoughts of our minds? Do we live as though we have a God-ordained purpose today and every remaining day of our lives?

Worship at His footstool! Go to Him and acknowledge that He is your God. He loves you, He keeps you, and He will bring you safely to His kingdom at the end of your days if you are His child. Live each moment as though it is a precious gift of God. Live as a person driven by the divine purpose for which you were created.

How would this world change if all Christians truly followed those directives? How would our world change if Christians woke from their stupor, shook off the enticements of this world, and set their hearts and minds steadfastly upon God?

Let us, then, exalt the Lord our God, and let us worship at His footstool, for the Lord our God is holy!

God Bless You,
Linda
