He is God!

1Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

He is God!

In our casual stroll through the book of Psalms, in this series called "First Love," we have reached the two-thirds point. What a fitting psalm this is to mark this milestone, for it is a psalm of reflection and praise to the Lord for He is God. The psalmist calls us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, to serve Him with gladness, and to come before His presence with singing.

Though the Christian life is filled with many struggles and difficulties, it is, nevertheless, a life of joy and peace. Even in times of great distress we find ourselves praising the Lord in joyful songs.

In the same manner we find that the Lord is an easy Taskmaster, who knows the innermost thoughts of our hearts and judges equitably. We find it a great privilege to serve Him; it is with a glad heart and a song on our lips that we walk each day in the service of our King.

What about the sad days--the days of grief and pain? How can we possibly serve the Lord in gladness and song? These are the days that we find our Lord's comfort and grace to be ever so sweet. As we look to Him we long for the day when this life will be over and we will walk hand-in-hand with our Lord and Savior. These are the days we remember what our Lord suffered, taking our punishment upon Himself, knowing that nothing we experience will ever be as great as the suffering He endured.

We marvel in amazement that God came to this earth in the form of a man in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He left the glories of heaven with all of its beauty and perfection and walked this earth living in submission to His earthly parents. Why? He has laid claim to us, His children, for He is the One who made us; we are His people and sheep of His pasture!

It is more than we can hope to understand. While we are busy filling our lives with the foolishness of this world, He turns our hearts and our minds to Him. Forgetting the temporal things of this life we are overwhelmed with His love and grace.

Go, then, this day and serve the Lord with gladness! Set your eyes upon the Lord Jesus and pray that He would remove your earthly cares that separate you from Him. Remember that He is God and we are the sheep of His pasture, and what a pleasant pasture it is!

God Bless You,
Linda
