Perfect Law

7The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Perfect Law

What does it mean to us that we have a perfect Law? As we look around us, what do we see? Wickedness and corruption surround us no matter where we go and what we do. How can we ever escape from the stench of evil that not only permeates every inch of this world in which we live, but seethes within our own spirits as well? Perfection does not exist in this world, but it does exist in God, the Creator of this world and in the law He has given to us. But, this perfect law eternally condemns us! What can we do?

The sin that is so rampantly destroying the very world in which we live has been conquered by the Lord Jesus Christ through His death on the cross. He has paid the death penalty that we may have life, and has given us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand and worship our glorious King.

As Christians we are called to live above the standards of this world; we are called to look to Christ as our Guide for living in a sin infested world. As we gaze upon Christ and his perfect Law we are reminded of all that that Law accomplishes in the hearts of sinner.

Only in Christ are souls converted, the simple made wise, hearts made to rejoice, and eyes enlightened to the majesty and awe of our amazing God. And, as we grow in our love and knowledge of God, we learn to treasure our relationship with him more than all the money the world could offer.

As David discovered these truths and penned them so beautifully in Psalm 19, so may we go forward in the peace and joy that can only come from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Though this world is filled with sin and corruption, let us, by the grace of God, look to His perfect Law that has conquered this world of sin and death forever! By this Law are we warned, and in the keeping of this Law there is truly great reward.

God Bless You,
Linda
