11But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
Being so near to Christmas, it is easy to understand how God delights to bless His children. The best part of gift giving for my husband and me, is watching our children and grandchildren open their gifts, and seeing the delight in their eyes. We must understand that God feels the same way toward His children.
Often, our focus toward God is on all of the unhappy times that come into our lives. "Why does God allow that?" we ask. It is important to realize that God's priorities for us are not the same as our priorities. With the goal of shaping us so that we may grow more and more like Him, He allows adversity to mold us into faithful and loving children.
Is that not really the same goal we have when we discipline our children? Discipline is not fun! However, a spoiled child is not a delight to anyone.
So, let us ponder the verses shown above, and let us rejoice in our amazing God. God defends His children, blesses them, and puts a guard around them. How amazing is that? Let us not become so entangled in the troubles of life that we do not recognize God's blessings on our behalf.
Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice!
God Bless You,
