7 But the LORD shall endure forever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgement to the people in uprightness.
Psalm 9:7-8, King James Version
How long is forever? It is interesting to note that before the psalmist continues with verses 7 and 8 of Psalm 9, he reminds us that the LORD shall endure forever! How quickly our short life is put in perspective when we compare it to forever. As Christians, it is good for us to step back and look at the bigger picture. Our life is but a vapor, as we are reminded in the book of James.
Do we see perfect justice in our world today? Often it seems as though we see no justice at all. We live in a world consumed with greed and envy. "Justice" can often be bought for a pitifully small amount of money.
How do we live in a world such as this and maintain a spirit of hopefulness? Our LORD God is not consumed by greed; His righteousness cannot be bought. As a matter of fact, there is no way man can receive righteousness apart from God.
Jesus came to purchase righteousness for a people so filled with sin, that it was impossible for them to attain any form of righteousness at all. Yet, God requires perfect justice and perfect righteousness.
As Christians, first let us look to God who is our only Source of righteousness and peace, and second, let us pray for our enemies. Our righteousness is totally of God; apart from the grace of God, we would be walking with our enemies. The same hope we have in Christ is available for them as well.
Perfect justice; perfect righteousness, and perfect peace.
What an amazing God we have!
God Bless You,
