9The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
10Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
The Lord Heard!
So far, Psalm 6 has been somewhat dismal, but what an ending! David is triumphant; the Lord heard! Part of being human is experiencing difficult and discouraging periods in our life. At the time, it seems as though it is going to be that way for the rest of our lives. It even seems as though our prayers just bounce off the ceiling.
Where is God? Sometimes we rely far too much on our emotions to gauge our relationship with the Lord. When that happens we need to do exactly what David did in Psalm 6. After David finished expressing his complaints and pleas to God for help, he stepped back and took a good solid look at his situation.
What did he discover? Even in the midst of his grief, when it felt as though God was nowhere near, he understood that God was right there beside him. The Lord heard! Just because it did not seem as though God was helping, he considered who God was, and realized that his feelings did not dictate God's actions.
This is the real secret of living a contented Christian life. Knowing that God is always right beside us, even when it does not seem to be true, will give us the courage and fortitude to go on. Where is God?
God is with us at all times. Let us wrap our arms around that truth, and use it to go forward on those days when it seems as though life is hopeless. We rest in God, and not in our feelings. May we say then, with David, the Lord heard!
Go then, in the peace and joy of the Lord!
God Bless You,
