Alive with Christ

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:4-10, New King James Version

Alive with Christ

Ephesians 2 is a wonderful passage; take some time to read the entire chapter. I have to say that I am amazed anew over the verses shown above. What do these verses say about God, and what do these verses say about His children?

*God is rich in mercy.
*God loved us even before we became believers.
*God makes us alive with Christ!
*God saves us by His grace, alone!
*As children of Christ, we sit with Him in the heavenly places!
*God will continue to show us the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
*Our salvation is not of ourselves, but it is a gift of His grace to us.
*We are God's workmanship.
*We are created in Christ for our good works.
*God even prepared our good works beforehand that we should walk in them.

What a treasure is found in these seven short verses. We, who are the weak things of this world do confound the wise. How do we do it? By God's grace alone. He loved while we were still unconverted, saved us by His grace alone, and has prepared us for the good works He has already ordained that we would do!

We are alive in Christ! That is something I will never understand, but I am so very grateful for our wonderful, wise, and holy God who sent Christ to redeem a people for Himself!

How can I help but love Him, when He loves me so?

God Bless You,
