Children of Light
Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. There fore it says,
"Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you."
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:7b-16, English Standard Version
Children of Light
It is not uncommon for us to struggle with our purpose in life.
"I am a Christian, so what do I do with my life? If I am more spiritual, obviously I would go into some full time Christian ministry. Right?"
I find it interesting that nowhere in the Old or New Testament will you find such an acclamation. As a matter of fact, you find just the opposite. Paul never asserts himself above others, but instead calls himself the least of all.
Ephesians 5, in the verses shown above, gives us a charge that all Christians must take seriously, no matter what their circumstances.
Walk as children of light . . . look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
No matter where we live, and no matter what we do, we must walk as children of light. If all Christians were pastors or missionaries, where would the Christian doctors, lawyers, teachers, and moms at home be? Look to the abilities that God has given you, and look at your present circumstances. God is already leading you through those abilities and circumstances in the way He would have you go!
So, I urge you this day, Walk as children of light . . . making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
God Bless You,
