Bread for the Hungry

21 If your enemy is hungry give him bread to eat,
and if he is thirsty give him water to drink,
22 for you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the LORD will reward you.
Proverbs 25:21-22, English Standard Version

Bread for the Hungry

Who ever heard of such a thing? Feed you enemy, and give him water to drink? No wonder people just do not understand the Christian! The set of values which we follow runs totally contrary to anything they know.

But, first, let me back up a little. Do we follow this set of values? God calls us to a life which is totally unnatural to us. For years we have fought the enemy, and now we finally have him! He is about to die of hunger and thirst. What does God command us? Feed him bread and give him water to drink! You have got to be kidding!

The Christian life is an impossible life for us to live! But, with God all things are possible. Is our purpose here in this life just to win against our enemies? No! Our purpose is to show Christ to an unbelieving world through our words and actions. Remember, we were all enemies of Christ until that great day He brought salvation to us.

Look around you today. What do you see? You do not have to look far to realize that our world is reeling in sin and misery. Pray today that God would help you fulfill His great commission by providing bread for the hungry and water for the thirsty.

How we look forward to that great day when man will neither hunger or thirst any more.

God Bless You,
Linda
