Object of Hope

27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27

13 Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
Titus 2:13-14

What is our object of hope as Christians? What has made such a total change in our lives that everything we once held dear no longer appeals to us? The object of our hope is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ, who walked as a God-man on this earth over 2000 years ago, still lives to this day! Not only is Christ alive, but He lives within us. Christ in you, the hope of glory. Before Christ came into our hearts, our hearts were not empty; instead they were filled with the worldly lusts of our day. No one is neutral, i.e. just an empty vessel waiting to be filled! From the fall of Adam, every single person was born in sin, serving Satan and the lusts of this world.

How did that change in our lives? When Christ came into our hearts He brought a new hope. From that day forward we have been waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Those verses say it all, do they not?

Jesus Christ, our blessed hope, became the object of our hope when he gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness. As Christians we have been purified in Christ, so that the rest of our lives may be lived in faithfulness and zealousness for our Savior.

The key to our faith is found in the object of our faith, the Lord Jesus Christ. In Him, alone, do we have hope!

God Bless You,
Linda
