Wings Like Eagles

July 26: Isaiah 40-43

7 The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the Lord blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.

10 Behold, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead those that are with young.

13 Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord,
or what man shows him his counsel?
14 Whom did he consult,
and who made him understand?
Who taught him the path of justice,
and taught him knowledge,
and showed him the way of understanding?

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:7-8, 10-11, 13-14 & 28-31

1 But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:1-3a

Wings Like Eagles

When you go through the Bible chronologically, it is inevitable that you will come across a day like today. How can you isolate a small section from such an overwhelming passage for a devotional study? Take the time and read the entire reading for today; there are no words that I could write that would bless you more!

Who is this God of ours? How much of our day is impacted by our relationship with Christ? Ponder these questions as I include some characteristics of God from Isaiah 40 and 43.

*The word of our God will stand forever.
*He will tend his flock like a shepherd.
*Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel?
*The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
*He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
*He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
*I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

No wonder He can say, They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Where can you go apart from God? Where can you go outside of His arm of protection?

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you
.

This, dear Christian, is your God!

God Bless You,
Linda
