He Adorns the Humble

June 15: Psalms 134 & 146-150

3 May the Lord bless you from Zion,
he who made heaven and earth!
Psalm 134:3

3 Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.
Psalm 146:3-7

11 But the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.
Psalm 147:11

4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
Psalm 149:4

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 150:6

He Adorns the Humble

If God does not bless you, then there are no blessings to be had! This is true for the believer as well as the non-believer. One of the greatest horrors of hell will be the total absence of God; no matter where you are on earth (or space), you are never totally absent from God. Therefore, the blessings God grants to this earth are granted to the ungodly as well as the Godly.

What does God love to see in His people?

But the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.
Psalm 147:11

For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation
.

Psalm 149:4

Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest king who ever lived had every reason (in our own eyes) to feel proud or arrogant, yet he never claimed glory for himself. Solomon continually praised God with a heart adorned in humility.

Find a quiet spot, and take a few minutes to just ponder this; think of who God is, all He has done for you, and the salvation offered through Christ's shed blood. Acknowledge that everything you are and have are due to God's faithfulness to you, remembering that He adorns the humble.

God Bless You,
Linda
