Steadfast Love

May 6: Psalms 89, 96, 100, 101, 105 & 132

1 I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;
with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 89:1

1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts!
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth!
Psalm 96:1-9

5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100:5

1 I will sing of steadfast love and justice;
to you, O Lord, I will make music.
Psalm 101:1

4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
Psalm 105:4

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for his dwelling place.
Psalm 132:13

Webster's dictionary defines steadfast in this way: a: firmly fixed in place : immovable b: not subject to change. Think about that for a moment. How many things do you know which are truly steadfast?

We certainly are not steadfast! Our bodies change, our personalities change, even our love for those in our families tends to ebb and flow. Nothing around us is steadfast! Buildings crumble with age, nature is in a constant flux of rebirth and death, even the mountains continually change.

Yet, God has steadfast love for His children! When the Psalmist pondered this, it caused him to burst forth in praise to God.

3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary
.

Just ponder that as you go about your duties of this day, and take time to thank God for His steadfast love!

God Bless You,
Linda
