The Path of Life

April 22: Psalms 6, 8-10, 14, 16, 19, & 21

3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul,
and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord.
4 In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him;
all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”

11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten,
he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”
Psalm 10:3-4 & 11

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none who does good.
Psalm 14:1

1 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
Psalm 14:1 & 3-4

1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
Psalm 19:1-4

11 You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

The Path of Life

The Path of Life is something we tend to think about very seldom, and yet our eternal destiny is determined by it. In the Psalms today, David is contrasting the heart of the wicked and the heart of the saint.

In the verses from Psalm 10 and 14 shown above, the heart of the wicked is revealed. He boasts and curses, renounces the Lord, and is greedy for gain. Psalm 14:1 reminds us, The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

Is he excused because of his unbelief? No, he is not excused, because even nature itself testifies of the existence of God. Look at Psalm 19:1-4,

In our world of multiculturalism, we must never forget that there is really only one path of life, and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a gift from God, not something we can conjure up from within.

David understood this clearly as he expressed it this way in Psalm 16:11.

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

In your "busy-ness" today, take the time to cry out to the Lord and be sure that the path you are on is really the path of life!

God Bless You,
Linda
