People Belong to God

10And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
11And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD. . . . . 14Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.

Numbers 8:10-11 & 14, King James Version

People Belong to God

In the first devotion of this topic, we read the commands that God gave to Moses, which were first generalized in the 10 Commandments, and then given in great detail. Here God is telling Moses to set apart the tribe of Levi that they may execute the service of the LORD. . . . and the Levites shall be mine.

As Christians, it is important to remember that we are not our own, but we belong to God. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19 & 20

God set apart the Levites to be the priests and workers in the temple. God may not have called you to the office of a pastor or minister, but He has called you to fill a specific roll in the advancement of His Kingdom here on earth. No matter what your office or station in life, your first calling is to God!

Think of what this world would be like if more Christians really understood and obeyed this calling of God! We spend so much of our time engulfed in this world that we often reserve very little, if any, time for God.

Pray that God would help you to understand your specific calling and that God would find you faithfully fulfilling that calling for the rest of your life.

God Bless You,

Linda
